DEALER SHOPS FOR BROWSERS IE 5, 5.5 and 6.0 has a way to repair itself. Go to Control Panel -> add/remove programs. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click IE, click add/remove and there is a selection for repair. Kinda misleading that you have to pretend to uninstall IE in order to repair it. They could have put it someplace else. I am not sure what all this fixes, and hopefully it is needed less and less, especially with IE6. I have actually seen it repair "things," however, at least with IE5.5. Update 2004: This technique seems to have been removed in the latest Windows updates. Doesn't look like there is any technique to do the repair anymore..... Probably need to uninstall, and then reinstall, or if necessary, do a Windows Repair. |
